Broken Horn Project: Kitchen & Dining Details

Location: Boise, ID

Photography: Sophia Wikoff

The heart of the home, ain’t that the truth! No matter what is going on in the living room or other areas of the house people always gravitate to the kitchen. So for this kitchen we designed an oversized island so there would be plenty of elbow room for everyone sitting at the counter. For the counters we went bold with the Calacatta Viola slabs from Domvs Surfaces. Marble surfaces tend to get a little bit of a bad reputation because of their ‘maintenance’, however if you seal them it adds extra resistance against stains and etching so you get the best of both worlds! The cabinets were labor of love and I think it was worth all of the back and forth trying to find the perfect custom stain, they are the yummiest blend of warm yet neutral.

The dining room was kept extremely simple on purpose. It’s all about the views in this room, the foothills speak for themselves so we didn’t want the details of the room to compete with the natural beauty encasing the room. The sunrises and sunsets from this room will leave you speechless!
